Swim Practice Begins Tomorrow!
Vortex,
We are all set to start practice tomorrow! The weather forecast is calling for a chilly morning, so it is unlikely that we will be having our swimmers get in the water. We will send out an email tomorrow morning around 7:00 confirming, but plan on at least attending a shortened practice in tennis shoes and sweatshirts.
Practice times
Please ONLY bring your swimmers to the pool during their assigned practice time. See document below for those assigned times.
Check-In Process
Each swimmer needs to check in with the VWC Swim Committee member outside the Provost Pool gate when they arrive. Here are the steps you will need to take:
- Hand in WAIVER if your family has not already turned it in to the OA.
- Verify that your swimmers have an adult present to supervise for THE ENTIRE PRACTICE.
- Verify that all family members have a face mask available.
- Swimmers will find their coach for socially distant warmups on the sidewalks surrounding the parking lot.
- Parents will enter the pool area and find a pod on deck to settle in for the duration of practice. There are now deck chairs on the pool deck in each socially distanced pod. At this time, our pool company will not allow families to bring their own chairs.
Masks
Our coaches and committee members will be wearing face masks the entire practice. Anyone who enters the pool area will be required to wear face masks. Swimmers will be required to wear their masks upon arrival until they are socially distanced with their group.
- It is up to each family to decide if they would like their swimmers to wear face masks during our dry-land activities and warmups outside the pool area. We will be sure the swimmers are socially distanced during these activities. Once warmups are complete, each coach will walk their swimmers through the pool gate with the intention of immediately getting in the water. Swimmers will not be allowed to wear face masks once they are in the pool area.
- Parents and other family members need to wear their face masks while they enter the pool area. Once you have settled into a pod, you may choose to remove face masks at that time. Any time you are walking around on deck, you need to wear a face mask.
Non-resident families
We are so thankful for our non-resident swimmers this year. We could not have facilitated a season without you. If you are a non-resident swim team family, you will NOT be able to stay and swim at the completion of swim practice. This is due to our neighborhood’s no guest policy this year only due to COVID. We are sorry for any inconvenience and will let you know if this changes throughout our season.
Bathrooms/Locker Rooms
Bathrooms will be open, but only available for use in the event of an emergency. One person will be admitted at a time. Showers and locker rooms will not be available for any reason.
As always, let us know of any questions!
